YOUR CHALLENGES              

As Legal Counsel, you will be part of the H.Essers Corporate Legal & Insurance department. This professional team is responsible for the legal, insurance and claims matters of the group.

In this role, you will promote the business objectives and compliance with the law through the preventive management of legal risks and liabilities, as well as promoting the legal certainty of H.Essers.

What does this mean in concrete terms?

  • You are responsible for formulating confidential legal advice to the Business Unit Managers about legal risks, the (commercial) transactions and the liability of the company for limiting the legal risks and optimizing the transactions
  • Your responsibility is to follow up on disputes, both judicial and extrajudicial, to defend the interests of the company
  • Communication with legal service providers, i.e. external lawyers, notaries, consultants is also part of your responsibility
  • As a Legal Counsel, you are responsible for monitoring the evolution of the applicable legislation, case law and legal doctrine. You inform your colleagues at Legal & Insurance about this

YOUR TALENTS

  • You have a master’s degree in law and first relevant legal work experience
  • You use a structured and independent way of working that ensures that you always keep an overview of your files
  • Your accuracy, punctuality and proactivity are indispensable elements to make this role a success
  • The frequent contacts with both internal and external stakeholders require strong written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English
  • Like no other, you succeed in translating complex legal matters into the business and you act as a reliable advisor
