Elisa Amor’s story of perseverance, opportunity, and family

Elisa’s story began with an internship in a warehouse, and now she leads a team at one of our sites in Spain. Over the past 9.5 years, she has not only built a career in logistics, but also a life shaped by opportunities and the family values that are important in our organization.

How did you end up at H.Essers?
Elisa: “I ended up at H.Essers thanks to a social integration course that gave me the opportunity to work in the logistics sector. I had just moved from Galicia to Catalonia and was going through a difficult time in my personal life. I was alone and uncertain about my future. There are times when you think about giving up.

Despite everything, I loved the work and the growth opportunities at H.Essers. During my internship, I wanted one thing above all else: to drive a forklift. I asked for it every day. For me, it symbolized trust and belonging. Looking back, I realize how much I wanted to move forward.”

What is your current role?
Elisa: “I am Warehouse Coordinator in one of H.Essers’ three warehouses in Spain. I have a team of eight people under me. I support them on a daily basis so that they can grow, both individually and as a team. It’s a position that motivates me every day and challenges me to keep learning.

But as I said, I started here 9.5 years ago as an intern and worked as an assistant warehouse employee. At that time, everything was new to me: the environment, processes, and responsibilities. I was eager to learn and prove myself. Over the years, H.Essers has not only been my workplace, but also a place where I have been able to build both my career and my life.”

What are you most proud of, and why?
Elisa: “I am most proud of the person I have become, because I never gave up, even when things were difficult. Two years ago, I became a mother, and motherhood has taught me to be strong and responsible. It has made me realize that it is possible to develop professionally and play your role at home at the same time.

Professionally, I have continued to learn, work hard, and take on challenges. I truly believe that with perseverance and determination, you can develop as a mother and as a professional.”

What has been your highlight at H.Essers?
Elisa: “One of the moments I am most proud of is becoming Warehouse Coordinator. This achievement is the result of years of effort, dedication, and continuous learning. It also represents the trust that H.Essers has placed in me to take responsibility and support others.

Leading a team means helping people grow, work together, and create a strong, supportive environment. I really appreciate being able to do that every day.“

What do you like most about working at H.Essers?
Elisa: ”I especially appreciate the understanding and support for our personal situations. At H.Essers, we are not just colleagues, we are like family. We always look for solutions together.

In my case, I have been able to adjust my work schedule to suit my needs and find a balance between my professional role and my role as a mother. That flexibility and empathy are incredibly important to me. What makes H.Essers really special is that, despite its size, it still has the atmosphere of a family business. The values are genuine, and you can see that in the way people work together and support each other. That sense of connection makes a big difference, and I am very proud of that.”

Is there anything else you would like to share?
Elisa: “I am grateful for the trust that H.Essers has shown in me over the years. I especially appreciate the people who believed in me, even when I doubted myself. Thanks to their support and the opportunities I have been given, I have been able to develop both personally and professionally.

Being part of H.Essers has shaped me into who I am today, and I am truly grateful for that.”
