Marco Rijnberg has been working for our organization since H.Essers was founded in Bergen op Zoom. He has more than 30 years of experience and feels right at home as Coordinator Warehouse.

How did you grow into your current position?
Marco: “I started in 1995 as a jack-of-all-trades, then quickly progressed to performing various supervisory tasks, and later became a warehouse manager. That’s what a Coordinator Warehouse used to be called.”

What motivates you in your work?
Marco: “I like the mentality of rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in. Don’t talk, just do it, so to speak. I am currently the coordinator of a warehouse with 18 customers that specializes in the storage of hazardous substances.”

“I consider my warehouse to be my shop. The only thing is that it’s 20,000 m² large with countless pallets, item numbers, a high turnover, and customers who expect their orders to be handled with the utmost care and punctuality. Together with my team, I decide how the shop runs, and at the end of the day we look at each other and say, ‘We did a great job again’. And tomorrow, the shop will run with even more enthusiasm than yesterday.”

“I think that hands-on mentality certainly contributed to winning the 5S award recently. That award shows that every day, the entire team has the utmost respect for safety and acts accordingly. That’s the only way to be eligible for such an award, which I’m also proud of. You can safely say that I feel great in my current role, and I try to improve every day. “

What is your connection with H.Essers?
Marco:” Well, H.Essers entered Bergen op Zoom in 2021 through an acquisition, and I never thought I would appreciate H.Essers as much as I do now. In the beginning, I was looking for points of reference, but now I can say with confidence that I understand what we stand for and what we want to convey. What strikes me most is that they take much more time to interact with people here. The most positive effect of this is that my team feels like they really belong to a family. I have now fully embraced the red family feeling.”
